gLAD you enjoyed it its taken 20 years to work out this route which avoids stroppy landowners but takes in all the scenery

Did this walk alone which was probably unwise as any mishap in such a remote area without phone signal would have caused major difficulty. Some great scenic features but also some technically challenging sections. The indicated timescale is very optimistic unless already familiar with the trail and the direction to follow at each point. References to cairns ( in the book) were not always helpful as some appeared to lead along different paths to that programmed. It may be that all tracks would have converged later but this was not certain and led to some backtracking. Eagles, vultures and ibex were all observed along trail.

Very fair comments . I will bear them in mind when I do my update .I have been trying different routes for 25 years and now feel this is the best . I just hope the book directions and the wikiloc trtack were enough to get you round safely one of my favourite walks in the whole area. Very excited to try this trail, which started off very well. Unfortunately there is a newish 6ft + fence which you can follow, from just above the waterfall, seeing the path just the other side of the fence, until about waypoint 5 when it forces you way off track. Ran out of time so turned back without seeing if there was a way around but didn't look promising. Very sad. Hoping you will tell me I've gone wrong but the fence does look very recent.

I am desperately disappointed not to say mystified to hear about the new fence across the path. I did the walk with friends just this summer and there was certainly no fence then. I assume it is after you have climbed up from the waterfall and before you pass through the cleft. I will put this on my list of walks to do as soon as the restrictions on travel in the Campo de Gibraltar are lifted. I live in Gaucin so cant travel to Jimena. If you are in the area and want to join me I a member of Gaucin walkers on facebook my email is robertpatrickelvin@gmail.com
