No bathrooms at trailhead but there are bathrooms at mile 1.7, 3.4 and 3.9.
Parallel parking is on Snipes Blvd in front of Norma Hamlin Park and private residences. Please RESPECT that you are in front of people’s homes; do not make loud noises in the morning or evening hours (a residence could come out yelling at you!)
Trail does have some obstacles such as large river rocks, exposed roots, and vines that trip. You’ll be walking over HUGE old dredge tailings in many areas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrpikS94GbE
This recording takes you past the Eagle’s nest twice: 1st at eye level on top of the bluffs, 2nd from the bike trail below the tree at lake level.
The trail has degraded from miles 3.9 to 4.3, so be aware of narrow trail, steep drop-offs, tall grasses, jutting roots and rocks, and untrimmed berry bushes (with vines that trip!). Nothing this ol’ gal couldn’t handle but I definitely want to issue this alert.
The portion of trail below the bluffs from miles 4.3 to 5.0 is on asphalt bike trail and can get very hot.
The yellow irises in Snowberry Pond were quite spectacular today PLUS we were fortunate to see the Eagle guarding its nest of eaglets.
Trail is approx 50/50 regarding shade and sun exposure. Bring plenty of water and sun protection.
