From 28 December 2018 through 2 January 2019 I completed a 97km hike through the Rees Dart Track in New Zealand! Excellent Hike.
Day1: Muddy Creek Carpark to the Kea Basin Rock Bivvy, 13km, 3 hours 40 minutes, 600m of total elevation gain
Day2: Kea Basin to Shelter Rock Hut, 17km, 5 hours 20 minutes, 570m of total elevation gain
Day3: Shelter Rock Hut to Dart Hut, 11km, 4 hours 20 minutes, 660m of total elevation gain
Day4: Dart Hut to Dart Glacier and return, 17km, 5 hours, 600m of total elevation gain (day pack only)
Day5: Dart Hut to Daleys Flat Hut, 19 km, 5 hours, 390m of total elevation gain
Day6: Daleys Flat Hut to Chinamans Car Park, 20 km, 5 hours 30 minutes, 500m of total elevation gain
Almost every day was fairly different from all the other days. Day 4 is EASILY the highlight but I enjoyed every day.
Sand flies were terrible near any nice water spot. They would COVER my bag. Any nice spot to stop for lunch was a bad spot, and bad spots to stop for lunch were good spots. Haha.
