The length of the path is 10657 metres and requires 5-6 hours walking. The footpath connects Palia Kavala with Kavala and follows the ruggedness of the terrain. It is an easy trail across typical Mediterranean terrain with kernes oak, oriental hornbeam, juniors, elm and mable. The first segment of the trail is leading to mana nerou spring which was the main source of water for Kavala city. The second segment of the path follows the aquaduct all the way down to agios Konstantinos. The trail follows bridges, aqueducts, fountains of the medieval aqueduct of Kavala.
Further down we reach the location mana nerou. From there you could reach some of the ancient gold mines. It's wealth attracted the ancient inhabitants of Thassos. The gold mines are 800 metres away from mana nerou. Over 150 plant species have been identified along the path.
