A trail between the Sanctuary of Apollon Ilatis to the stadium
It was constructed during the 2nd Century A.D. The stadium has a U-shaped plan and had seven rows of seats which would have accommodated around 6000 spectators. It was used for the sports of the Hellenic Pentathlon and for chariot and horse races related to the cult of Apollo since the Archaic period, as indicated by ceramic figurines found in the sanctuary. The Stadium was used until the end of the 5th century A.D.
An important ancient city-Kingdom, and one of the most spectacular archeological sites on the island. The oldest remains date back to the Hellenistic period (325-50 BC). The most important monuments were build between the 2nd – and 5th century AD. Some of them is the Theater which could sit about 3000 people is now fully restored and used for various performances. The house of Eustolious, a private roman villa with complex of baths and beautiful 5th century mosaics. The house of Achilles and cladiadors have both beautiful mosaics as well.
