The panoramic round trip impresses especially with passages through partly steep vineyards as well as the information boards about sights along the way and the history of the region. Highlights are the views on the river Rhein and several castles along the Rhein, including Burgruine Ehrenfels (ruins of castle Ehrenfels), and the famous Niederwalddenkmal. The white/yellow tower on a small island in the Rhein (pic #14) is called "Mäuseturm", which in former times was actually not a shelter for mice (Mäuseturm = mice tower), but a customs tower.
The ascent from Assmannshausen back up into the vineyards requires a bit of fitness.
Recommended restaurant: "Alte Bauernschänke" (pic #17) in Assmannshausen.
Start/end is the rail station in Rüdesheim (pic #1-3), which will be moved 1 km further east till 2028.
