4-day backpack starting at Deer Park, dropping to Three Forks, climbing Gray Wolf River. Camped first night at Falls Camp. Day 2, crossed Gray Wolf Pass with no issues, dropped to Dosewallips Trail, encountering several big blowdowns to junction with Lost Pass Trail. Trail up Lost Pass was very steep, but in reasonably good shape with few blowdowns. Camped about halfway between Lost Pass and Cameron Pass. Several good sites just before big meadow at base of Cameron. Day 3, climbing south side of Cameron Pass was steep but straightforward. Descending north side was sketchy, because of steep snow at top and very loose scree below that. Trail from base of Cameron Pass to Grand Pass was bad: heavily overgrown for miles, creek had merged with trail at one point, and ascent of south side of Grand Pass was absurdly steep with many trail tread washouts. Trail improved markedly on north side of Grand Pass, and was good for remainder of the hike. Camped 3rd night at Moose Lake, which was pretty, but the heavily used campsite was quite dusty. Day 4, ascent to Observation Point was straightforward on good trail, and ridgewalk along Hurricane Ridge to Deer Park had spectacular views and good wildflowers.
