Our first mountaineering route in Scotland, done with Max Hunter, from Hunter Mountaineering.

The conditions were snowy and icy from about 900m over sea level.

The approach is quite scenic, walking through the big mountain circus of Ben Nevis. Close to the shelter hut we crossed the river and started the Ledge Route after about 50m in gully #5.

For quite some time we used no crampons, only roped up or secured short pitches with some nuts and friends.
Towards the end of the route it got very slippery and using crampons and axes was a must.

Once on the top we got an amazing view of the almost setting sun, Fort William and the Nevis range.
The descend took about two hours and was overall easy, albeit first rocky and later muddy.
