This is a day section of the Via Alpina Route 1, with an added valley return to Schwanden
Until Elm you need to just follow signs for Route 1 (it is mostly mountain path, red, white markings, with yellow (walking path) close to the towns of Linthal and Elm.
Once in Elm, follow route 55 (Suwarov) which runs parallel to the stream.
It is done in in the opposite direction as the climb from Linthal is steeper and conditions were wet.
Was done on 4.7.2020 in roughly 5 hours of moving time.
The actual measures of route are
40.7km
2150 metres up
2250 metres down
The climb meters from Wikiloc are incorrect. If you subtract highest from lowest point you have already 1700 metres of climb plus the intermediate hills, so a total of 2150 metres up
The trains from Schwanden back to Linthal are hourly, and takes 17 min to cover the 11km
